ANCHORED AND AWARE
What if trusting your own reality again was actually closer than you think?
“I finally stopped explaining my worth to someone committed to misunderstanding me.”
A trauma-informed recovery pathway for survivors of narcissistic abuse created by Jennifer Thumm, LPC.
Learn moreYOU ARE NOT “TOO SENSITIVE”
Narcissistic abuse slowly disconnects you from yourself.
Not overnight.
Not loudly.
But gradually.
Until eventually you begin questioning:
- your memory
- your intuition
- your emotions
- your reactions
- your reality
You replay conversations constantly.
Over-explain yourself.
Second-guess everything.
Feel emotionally flooded after even the smallest interaction.
And after enough gaslighting, blame-shifting, invalidation, and manipulation……your nervous system begins living in survival mode.
Anchored and Aware was created to help survivors:
- clear the fog
- regulate emotional flashbacks
- rebuild self-trust
- stop seeking validation from the source of harm
- establish emotional safety
- reconnect with their authentic identity
Without retraumatizing themselves in the process.
THIS IS WHAT COVERT ABUSE CAN LOOK LIKE
Maybe you:
- constantly question yourself after conversations
- feel emotionally drained after co-parenting interactions
- replay arguments in your head for hours
- obsessively explain yourself
- struggle to trust your instincts
- feel guilt setting boundaries
- fear conflict or emotional retaliation
- crave closure that never comes
- feel trapped in confusion
- wonder if you are somehow “the problem”
You may appear functional from the outside.
But internally?
Your nervous system has been living in chronic emotional danger for a very long time.
And eventually, survival mode starts feeling normal.
WHY YOU STILL FEEL STUCK
1. The Abuse Was Designed To Create Confusion
Covert narcissistic abuse is psychological warfare.
The manipulation is often subtle enough that survivors struggle to explain it to others.
Which creates:
- self-doubt
- emotional confusion
- cognitive dissonance
- chronic hypervigilance
- nervous system dysregulation
You are not imagining the impact.
Your body remembers what your mind was taught to dismiss.
2. You Keep Seeking Closure From Someone Who Benefits From Your Confusion
Many survivors stay emotionally trapped because they are still waiting for:
- accountability
- empathy
- validation
- honesty
- understanding
But healing begins when you stop asking the person who harmed you to finally become emotionally safe.
Closure is not something they give you.
It is something you reclaim for yourself.
3. Your Nervous System Is Still Responding As Though The Danger Is Active
Even after separation, your body may still react as though the threat is ongoing.
Especially during:
- co-parenting communication
- legal interactions
- text messages
- unexpected contact
- emotional triggers
This is not weakness.
This is nervous system conditioning.
And it can be rewired safely.

Meet the experts leading your healing journey.
Jennifer Thumm, LPC
Visionary, CEO & Clinical Director
Jennifer is the architect and clinical engine behind The Haven Collective. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with deep, ongoing post-graduate specialization in infant, child, and family mental health, Jennifer built this ecosystem to solve the exact problem exhausting today’s families: the massive gap between clinical therapy and real-world application.
Uniquely dual-credentialed with an extensive background in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education, Jennifer speaks both the language of the nervous system and the language of the school district. She understands that a child’s dysregulation cannot be "managed" by behavior charts—it must be healed through somatic safety.
As the Lead Facilitator for our clinical immersions at Haven Family Farms, Jennifer takes therapy out of the clinic and into the pasture. Utilizing animal-assisted interventions (including our quarter horses and therapy dogs) and regenerative nature-based practices, she guides neurodivergent and trauma-affected families out of chronic survival mode and into deep, measurable connection.

Lisa Shaw, LPC, CADC
Lead Clinical Trauma Specialist
Lisa brings profound clinical depth and unwavering steady support to The Haven Collective. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Lisa specializes in the heavy lifting of deep trauma resolution.
Lisa handles the clinical complexities that keep individuals and families anchored in the past. As our resident EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) specialist, she expertly guides clients through the neurobiological rewiring of severe trauma, PTSD, and the painful family dynamics of addiction recovery.
Operating as the Co-Lead Facilitator for our Track A Clinical Retreats and Family Intensives, Lisa provides the clinical safety net required for clients to process their darkest moments. Her approach is deeply empathetic but grounded in evidence-based reality, ensuring clients don't just talk about their pain—they actually resolve it at the root.
