Learn moreYOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO CARRY THIS ALONE
Addiction impacts more than the person struggling.
It impacts the entire nervous system of the family.
Over time, life can begin revolving around:
- crisis management
- emotional unpredictability
- financial stress
- hypervigilance
- fear
- emotional exhaustion
- trying to prevent the next disaster
You may love someone deeply and still feel:
- emotionally depleted
- resentful
- anxious
- overwhelmed
- numb
- constantly on edge
Not because you do not care.
But because your nervous system has been trying to survive prolonged chaos for far too long.
Â
Rooted in Recovery for Families was created to help loved ones:
- stop living in survival mode
- establish healthy boundaries
- heal attachment wounds
- regulate emotional overwhelm
- stop enabling cycles
- reclaim peace independent of another person’s choices
Without losing their compassion in the process.
THIS IS WHAT ADDICTION CAN DO TO A FAMILY SYSTEM
Maybe you:
- constantly monitor whether they are sober
- feel anxious every time your phone rings
- financially rescue them repeatedly
- walk on eggshells to avoid conflict
- feel manipulated by promises that never last
- struggle saying “no”
- feel guilt prioritizing yourself
- live in chronic emotional exhaustion
- feel trapped between hope and disappointment
- cannot fully relax because you are always waiting for the next crisis
And maybe underneath it all…
…you are desperately trying to hold your family together while slowly losing yourself.
WHY NOTHING HAS CHANGED YET
1. You Cannot Control A Disease You Did Not Cause
Many families unknowingly enter survival roles:
- fixer
- rescuer
- peacekeeper
- over-functioner
- caretaker
Not because they are weak.
Because they are terrified.
But addiction cannot be controlled through hypervigilance, rescuing, or self-sacrifice.
And eventually, trying to save everyone else begins destroying your own nervous system too.
2. Helping Has Slowly Become Enabling
Many loving family members unintentionally protect the addiction cycle by:
- removing consequences
- financially rescuing
- over-accommodating
- over-functioning
- abandoning their own boundaries
Not because they do not care.
Because they care deeply.
Inside this program, you’ll learn how to establish compassionate boundaries without abandoning empathy.
3. Addiction Creates Nervous System Trauma
Living inside chronic unpredictability changes the body.
Many loved ones develop:
- hypervigilance
- anxiety
- emotional shutdown
- chronic stress responses
- sleep disruption
- burnout
- emotional reactivity
This is not simply “stress.”
It is nervous system dysregulation caused by prolonged emotional instability.
And healing requires more than coping.
It requires nervous system restoration.

Therapy to heal the root. Coaching to build the routine.
A sanctuary to hold the process.
This is The Haven Collective.
We don't just treat the symptoms. We heal the entire ecosystem.
At The Haven Collective, we know that true, lasting healing requires more than 45 minutes on a clinical couch. It requires a multidisciplinary approach that addresses the neurobiological root of trauma, provides the logistical coaching to change daily habits, and offers an environment where the nervous system can actually exhale.
To achieve this, we have assembled a powerhouse leadership team. By bridging master’s-level clinical psychotherapy, specialized educational advocacy, and actionable family-systems coaching, our team provides a seamless, "cradle-to-flourishing" pathway for your family.
Meet the experts leading your healing journey.
Jennifer Thumm, LPC
Visionary, CEO & Clinical Director
Jennifer is the architect and clinical engine behind The Haven Collective. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with deep, ongoing post-graduate specialization in infant, child, and family mental health, Jennifer built this ecosystem to solve the exact problem exhausting today’s families: the massive gap between clinical therapy and real-world application.
Uniquely dual-credentialed with an extensive background in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education, Jennifer speaks both the language of the nervous system and the language of the school district. She understands that a child’s dysregulation cannot be "managed" by behavior charts—it must be healed through somatic safety.
As the Lead Facilitator for our clinical immersions at Haven Family Farms, Jennifer takes therapy out of the clinic and into the pasture. Utilizing animal-assisted interventions (including our quarter horses and therapy dogs) and regenerative nature-based practices, she guides neurodivergent and trauma-affected families out of chronic survival mode and into deep, measurable connection.
Angi Dougherty
Director of Coaching & Retreat Operations (Owner, Footprints Healing)
If our clinicians heal your past, Angi helps you build your future. Angi is the owner and principal operator of Footprints Healing, The Haven Collective’s exclusive B2B coaching and retreat-directing partner.
As a certified professional coach, Angi focuses on the present-day integration of your healing. She is the "boots on the ground" expert who helps families translate clinical breakthroughs into daily routines. Whether she is leading a Track B Coaching Retreat, facilitating our digital group coaching cohorts, or helping parents establish functional boundaries at home, Angi provides the accountability and psychoeducation families need to sustain their growth.
Additionally, Angi serves as the mastermind behind the logistics and hospitality of every single physical immersion at Haven Family Farms. She ensures that from the moment you step onto the property, every farm-to-table meal, cozy lodge detail, and scheduling transition is seamlessly handled—so you can focus entirely on your family's healing.
Lisa Shaw, LPC, CADC
Lead Clinical Trauma Specialist
Lisa brings profound clinical depth and unwavering steady support to The Haven Collective. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Lisa specializes in the heavy lifting of deep trauma resolution.
Lisa handles the clinical complexities that keep individuals and families anchored in the past. As our resident EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) specialist, she expertly guides clients through the neurobiological rewiring of severe trauma, PTSD, and the painful family dynamics of addiction recovery.
Operating as the Co-Lead Facilitator for our Track A Clinical Retreats and Family Intensives, Lisa provides the clinical safety net required for clients to process their darkest moments. Her approach is deeply empathetic but grounded in evidence-based reality, ensuring clients don't just talk about their pain—they actually resolve it at the root.
